Douglas Bowser’s career in the photo industry began as a photo lab technician printing color and custom B&W on the island of Maui in the early 1980′s. 30 years later, he has accumulated a wide array of experience including producing commercial, portrait, stock and fine art photography. In the last 8 years Doug has been teaching photography workshops and fine art printmaking to students ages 9 to adult. With an extensive background in old-school darkroom printing, Doug has embraced the digital darkroom and is excited about teaching techniques that combine the two. “I think most students come to my classes hoping to learn how there camera works. This is important, but I feel it’s more important to understand the how and why of making a picture instead of just taking pictures”. He is available for one-on-ones, private tutoring and photo tours at the Cascade Center of Photography.
